Every January, the Calgary Booster Club opens nominations and applications for two (2) of our Recognition Awards and two (2) of our Grant Awards.
Both of the Recognition Awards have a nomination deadline of March 1, 2022
Honoured Athletic Leader
The Calgary Booster Club recognizes individuals with established track records of singleminded dedication to the sporting landscape. Winners have demonstrated long service — typically more than 15 years — and made contributions in a volunteer or administrative or athletic capacity.
Being named an Honoured Athletic Leader is one of the criteria for nomination for Sportsperson of the Year, the Calgary Booster Club’s most prestigious award.
Sportsperson of the Year
Every year the Calgary Booster Club celebrates an individual whose achievements have made a significant impact on local sport. This is the Sportsperson of the Year, the club’s flagship honour, which has been handed out since 1954.
Both of the Grant Awards have an application deadline of March 15, 2022
Art Smith Endowment Fund
The Art Smith Amateur Sport Legacy Fund is a partnership between the Calgary Booster Club and the Parks Foundation Calgary. Together these two groups have created and will continue to build an endowment fund to provide much needed assistance for amateur athletes.
Bob Freeze Sport Grant
Bob was the President of the Booster Club 1959 and 1960. He was named the Sportsperson of the Year 1965. In recognition of his support of youth athletes, the Calgary Booster Club will provide awards of up to $1000 to youth athletes up to the age of 16 years old.
