In an ongoing effort to celebrate outstanding athletes, volunteers and others involved in the city’s vibrant sports scene, the Calgary Booster Club has hired Ian Wilson as the new Content Manager for the organization’s communications department.
Wilson is an experienced Calgary journalist who brings decades of writing and editing skill to the role.
“The Calgary Booster Club strongly believes that the organization plays a meaningful role in growing awareness about the people and important stories that contribute to the Calgary sport landscape. Ian Wilson is a talented media professional who will deliver these stories to our community and supporters,” commented Calgary Booster Club Vice-President Mark Kosak.
Wilson has lived in Calgary since 1997. A University of Regina Journalism and Communications graduate, Wilson previously worked for the Grande Prairie Daily Herald-Tribune and the Calgary Sun newspapers.
In 2017, Wilson co-founded Alberta Dugout Stories, a sports media entity that covers baseball in the province. More recently, Wilson has worked as a media consultant with the Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL).
“I’m a strong believer in sport and its ability to challenge, inspire, educate, elevate and unite the people who participate in it in various ways and at all levels,” said Wilson.
“It’s very exciting to see the Calgary Booster Club celebrate so many talented athletes and leaders in the sporting community. I’m looking forward to sharing the compelling stories of people who contribute so much locally, provincially, nationally and internationally. What they start here, often has an impressive ripple effect that resonates positively right around the world.”
Wilson will work closely with Calgary Booster Club Digital Media Manager Rob McLeod. The two will continue to help raise the profile of the Calgary Booster Club and salute the initiatives and efforts of the organization to support achievement and leadership in sport.
