Rob McLeod Set to Attempt 14th Guinness World Records title at The GOOD Games

Rob McLeod is feeling good and flying high these days.

The Calgary-based motivational speaker already has 13 Guinness World Records and he’ll be looking to make it 14 during the Feb. 14-15 weekend.

His attempt is part of Chinook Blast at The GOOD Games, which are taking place at Calgary’s BMO Centre at Stampede Park. The event brings together traditional athletics, para sport, Special Olympics moments, Indigenous sport and cultural experiences for one weekend. It’s three days of sports, music, food, kids play zones in a festival atmosphere.

“This is exactly what The GOOD Games is about – big community energy and moments that make people feel alive,” said Helen Stoumbos, the founder and CEO of The GOOD Games.

“We are building a winter weekend where families can show up, try something new, cheer loudly, and be part of something unforgettable. Bringing a Guinness World Records attempt into the heart of the festival is a perfect way to unite the city through joy, movement, and shared experience.”

McLeod said the record is governed by the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF).

“So, I get 15 attempts per day. The current record is around 39 metres, so I’ll be setting a mark around 40 metres,” said McLeod, who is the Digital Media Manager with the Calgary Booster Club.

“Although I’ve really been focused on training for the last two months, I’ve been thinking about this record for many years, having started training for this three years ago. This is part of my school assembly, where I teach kids about resilience by missing a bunch when I attempt to throw into the basketball net. The world record is about two to three times the length of a standard school gym, and about one-and-a-half times the length of an NBA basketball court.”

Originally from New Brunswick, McLeod has inspired over 250,000 students across Canada by converting missed throws into teachable moments.

“I love the moment right before the throw, when everyone is holding their breath,” said McLeod, who is known as Frisbee Rob.

“This attempt isn’t just about breaking a record – it’s about showing kids and adults that progress comes from trying, missing, learning, and showing up again. If we can turn failure into fuel, we can do anything.”

The “basketball field goal” attempt will see McLeod try to throw a flying disc through a regulation basketball hoop in front of a crowd. It’s a task that requires precision, as the hoop is only a few inches wider than the disc.

Here’s a preview of his record:

Of McLeod’s 13 Guinness World Records, six were achieved on ice skates, three were completed on inline skates and another three were done with a dog. One record was set up for a TV show in China.

He is best known for his halftime show performance at a Calgary Stampeders game with his canine companion, Sailor, who roamed the length of the field to make an impressive catch at McMahon Stadium in 2021.

McLeod’s record attempts at The GOOD Games will take place between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14th and Sunday, Feb. 15th.
