The 72nd Annual Calgary Booster Club Sports Gala was held on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the Grey Eagle Resort Banquet Room, bringing together athletes, coaches, builders, volunteers, families, sponsors, and supporters for an evening dedicated to celebrating Calgary sport.
As one of the Calgary Booster Club’s signature annual events, the Sports Gala continues to recognize the people and performances that help shape our city’s proud sporting legacy. This year’s celebration honoured outstanding athletes, dedicated leaders, and individuals whose commitment to sport has made a lasting impact in Calgary and beyond.
The evening featured the presentation of several major awards, including recognition for Sportsperson of the Year Don Buchignani, Male Athlete of the Year Cale Makar, Female Athlete of the Year Ivanie Blondin, and Special Olympics Athlete of the Year Casey Kruse. The Gala also celebrated this year’s Honoured Athletic Leaders, whose contributions reflect the depth, dedication, and community spirit found throughout Calgary’s sport landscape.
More than an awards ceremony, the Gala was a chance to reconnect, reflect, and celebrate the shared passion that continues to drive sport in our city.
