Investing in People. Strengthening Sport. Building Calgary’s Future.

For more than 70 years, the Calgary Booster Club has supported amateur sport in Calgary through meaningful grants and scholarships. Our Awards program exists to reduce barriers, recognize dedication, and help athletes and students pursue excellence at every stage of their journey.

Art Smith Endowment Grant

The Art Smith Amateur Sport Legacy Fund is a partnership between the Calgary Booster Club and Parks Foundation Calgary, designed to provide long-term support for amateur athletes through an endowed fund.

Named in honour of Art Smith, a founding member of the Calgary Booster Club and one of Calgary’s most respected civic leaders, this grant reflects a commitment to sustained excellence in sport – supporting athletes based on performance level and financial need.

Who should apply:
Athletes competing at a provincial or national level, or transitioning into high-performance competition, who are Calgary residents (or training within the City of Calgary) and are 17+ by the application deadline.

Bob Freeze Sport Grant

The Bob Freeze Sport Grant honours Bob Freeze, President of the Calgary Booster Club in 1959–60 and Sportsperson of the Year in 1965, whose passion for grass roots sport helped shape youth athletics in Calgary.

This grant supports:

  • Youth athletes (up to age 16) through individual awards
  • One Calgary-based organization annually, supporting initiatives that benefit youth sport – ideally multi-sport and community-focused
