Honoured Athletic Leader
- Nominations are closed until 2026 -

About the Award
The Calgary Booster Club recognizes individuals with established track records of singleminded dedication to the sporting landscape. Winners have demonstrated long service – a minimum of 15 years – and made contributions in a volunteer or administrative or athletic capacity.
These are our city’s difference-makers, these are our sport promoters, our tireless influencers.
In the award’s first year, 1972, George Blundun (figure skating) and Joe Shea (hockey, baseball) were singled out for their devotion to the local scene. There is no limit on annual recipients. The 1999 class featured a dozen men and women, the most honoured in a single year by the Calgary Booster Club.
Being named an Honoured Athletic Leader is one of the criteria for nomination for Sportsperson of the Year, the Calgary Booster Club’s most prestigious award.
